Dubai Hotel Rates Jump Up to 175% on September 2026 Exhibition Dates: Novotel DWTC From AED 300 to AED 825, Average of 15 Hotels Near the World Trade Centre Up 86%

2026-09-06

Hotel room rates around Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) are up by as much as 175% on the busy exhibition dates of September 2026 compared with a quieter period, according to a price check on Booking.com published by Khaleej Times on Sunday 6 September 2026. The displayed rate at Novotel Dubai World Trade Centre rose from AED 300 to AED 825 (+175%), at ibis Dubai World Trade Centre from AED 233 to AED 618 (+165%) and at ibis Dubai One Central from AED 200 to AED 484 (+142%). Across 15 comparable properties near the exhibition district the average displayed rate rose from about AED 372 to AED 689, an increase the newspaper puts at roughly 86%. The demand comes from a calendar that includes the International Property Show and AIM Congress on 7-9 September, Arabian Travel Market on 14-17 September, GISEC Global on 16-18 September and Seamless Middle East on 22-24 September. This article sets out the hotel-by-hotel figures, the events behind them, how they compare with the weak first half of 2026 and what a company sending staff to a Dubai exhibition should budget for beyond the displayed rate.

The price check: six hotels and an average of 15

Khaleej Times compared publicly displayed Booking.com rates for busy September dates with rates for a quieter period at hotels close to DWTC. The newspaper did not name the exact dates checked. The figures depend on room type, availability and booking conditions and can change at any time: they are a snapshot of displayed prices, not an official statistic. The percentages for the first three hotels are those printed by Khaleej Times; the others are calculated from the published rates.

Hotel Quiet-period rate Busy September date Change
Novotel Dubai World Trade Centre AED 300 AED 825 +175%
ibis Dubai World Trade Centre AED 233 AED 618 +165%
ibis Dubai One Central AED 200 AED 484 +142%
Courtyard by Marriott World Trade Centre AED 231 AED 558 +142% (calculated)
Jumeirah Living World Trade Centre AED 669 AED 1,299 +94% (calculated)
The H Dubai AED 501 AED 961 +92% (calculated)
Average of 15 comparable properties AED 372 AED 689 +86%

Two patterns stand out. The steepest increases are at the economy and midscale hotels that sit closest to the exhibition halls: a room at Novotel or ibis at DWTC that costs AED 200 or AED 300 in a quiet week costs between AED 484 and AED 825 when the halls are full. The upscale properties, Jumeirah Living World Trade Centre and The H Dubai, start from a higher base and roughly double. Khaleej Times adds that rates at many hotels rose from around AED 600 to over AED 900. Booking.com also showed a high share of unavailable rooms for some of the dates checked, which the newspaper notes reflects availability on the platform rather than Dubai’s official occupancy rate.

The events behind the demand: the September 2026 calendar around DWTC

September is the first full month of Dubai’s business-events season after the summer, and in 2026 the calendar is denser than usual because Arabian Travel Market, normally a spring show, was moved to September. The table lists the September events named by Khaleej Times with dates and venues checked against the organisers’ sites on 6 September 2026.

Event Dates Venue
Middle East Energy 1-3 September Dubai World Trade Centre
International Property Show 7-9 September Dubai World Trade Centre
AIM Congress, 15th edition 7-9 September Dubai World Trade Centre
Dubai Derma 8-10 September Dubai World Trade Centre
Crypto Expo Dubai 9-10 September Dubai World Trade Centre
Arabian Travel Market 14-17 September Dubai World Trade Centre
GISEC Global 16-18 September Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo City Dubai
Seamless Middle East 22-24 September Dubai World Trade Centre

Arabian Travel Market was originally scheduled for 4-7 May 2026 and was rescheduled to 14-17 September at DWTC; the organiser’s site lists more than 2,800 exhibitors and over 55,000 attendees for the show. GISEC Global, organised by DWTC, takes place at the Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City and expects more than 25,000 participants from over 180 countries, which moves part of the month’s demand to hotels in the south of the city. The 15th AIM Congress on 7-9 September brings its own delegations of investors and government officials, as described in our article on AIM Congress 2026 at DWTC. Most of the remaining events are in the DWTC halls on Sheikh Zayed Road, which is why the hotels in Trade Centre, on Sheikh Zayed Road, in DIFC and in Downtown see the strongest demand: thousands of exhibitors, delegates and business visitors want to stay within walking distance or a short taxi ride of the venue. The full September calendar for Dubai and Abu Dhabi, including the events later in the month, is in our overview of the UAE’s September 2026 business-events season, and the mega-event calendar to December, with GITEX Global moving to Expo City on 8-11 December, is in our article on Dubai’s events calendar for the rest of 2026.

How this compares with the first half of 2026

The September increases come after the weakest half-year Dubai’s hotels have had in years. According to the Cavendish Maxwell report covered by Khaleej Times on 18 August 2026, hotel occupancy in Dubai fell 30.3% in the first half of 2026 as the regional conflict disrupted air travel, the average daily rate fell 7% to AED 701, and passenger traffic at Dubai International Airport was down 31.7% to about 26.6 million in the first five months of the year. The market had 727 hotels and about 152,139 rooms. S&P Global Ratings, in its sovereign rating release of 4 September 2026, put first-half occupancy at 58% against 80% a year earlier; the figures are in our article on the S&P affirmation of the UAE at AA/A-1+.

Cavendish Maxwell’s segment data explain why the economy and midscale hotels near DWTC can raise rates by 150% or more. In the first half of 2026 upper midscale hotels recorded the highest occupancy at 65.7% and midscale hotels 63.7%, while luxury hotels averaged 51.2% and upper upscale hotels 51.8%. Business visitors kept the mid-market segment fuller through the downturn, and that segment is exactly what surrounds the exhibition district. Cavendish Maxwell’s forecast for the full year 2026 is occupancy of 60.4% to 66.2% and an average daily rate of AED 600 to AED 675, which means the September average of AED 689 across the 15 hotels checked is above the expected full-year average. In the short-term rental segment, AirDNA’s average booked rate for Dubai in the 12 months to August 2026 was USD 178 (AED 654) a night, as set out in our analysis of Dubai short-term rentals.

What the hoteliers say

Pratik Kachroo, executive director at Khamas Hospitality, told Khaleej Times that the group was already seeing positive indicators for hotel occupancy heading into September compared with the traditionally quieter August, and that Dubai’s continued investment in tourism, infrastructure and major international events was helping to strengthen demand. “With a strong calendar ahead, including Arabian Travel Market, we expect a stronger Q4, driven by both business and leisure demand,” he said, adding that Dubai has historically been a global destination of choice for the winter season.

Tarek Labib, head of commercial at IHG Hotels & Resorts for South West Asia, the Middle East and Africa, said summer demand across the UAE had remained healthy, supported by staycations, family travel and resort-led experiences. “Hotel rates during summer are typically more accessible than during peak travel periods,” he said, noting that hotels were increasingly focusing on packages and value-added offers rather than broad rate reductions. The shift from lower summer pricing into a busy business-events period is what the Booking.com figures capture.

What the displayed rate does not include

A company budgeting for staff at a Dubai exhibition should add two mandatory charges to the displayed room rate, both set by law. The first is the Tourism Dirham fee under Dubai Executive Council Resolution No. 2 of 2014, charged for each night a room is occupied and collected by the hotel for the Department of Economy and Tourism: AED 20 per room per night in a five-star hotel or resort, AED 15 in a four-star hotel, AED 10 in a three-star or two-star hotel, AED 7 in a one-star or budget hotel, and AED 20, AED 15 or AED 10 in luxury, deluxe and standard hotel apartments respectively. The hotel must show the fee in the guest’s invoice. The second is VAT at 5% under Federal Decree-Law No. 8 of 2017, which applies to hotel accommodation. Whether the rate shown on a booking platform already includes these charges depends on the listing, so the total should be checked before paying. A company that intends to claim the input VAT needs a tax invoice issued in the company’s name.

Checklist for companies sending staff to September exhibitions in Dubai

  • Book early: the Khaleej Times check shows economy and midscale rooms at DWTC rising from AED 200 or AED 300 in a quiet week to between AED 484 and AED 825 on event dates, and Booking.com already showed unavailable rooms for some dates.
  • Compare locations along the Dubai Metro red line: hotels in Trade Centre, on Sheikh Zayed Road, in DIFC and in Downtown carry the event premium, while the metro links World Trade Centre station with Business Bay, Al Barsha and Dubai Marina.
  • Check the venue for GISEC: it is at the Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City in the south of the city, near Al Maktoum International Airport, not at DWTC, so a hotel near Trade Centre is the wrong base for that show.
  • Add the Tourism Dirham (AED 7 to AED 20 per room per night by hotel category) and 5% VAT to the displayed rate, and ask for a tax invoice in the company’s name if the company intends to reclaim the input VAT.
  • Get written confirmation of the room type and the cancellation terms: the figures depend on room type, availability and booking conditions.
  • For stays of a week or more consider hotel apartments and serviced apartments: the Tourism Dirham for a standard hotel apartment is AED 10 a night, and the short-term rental market averaged AED 654 a night in the year to August 2026.
  • If your company exhibits regularly, negotiate a corporate rate with one or two hotels near the venue before the season rather than booking date by date.

How Atlant Capital can help

Companies that come to Dubai for exhibitions often decide to open a permanent presence. We open corporate bank accounts for new and existing companies (bank account opening) and handle work visas and residency for owners and staff who need to be in Dubai for longer than a visitor’s stay (work visa and residency). Accounting, VAT registration and corporate tax filing are provided by licensed accounting firms from our partner network.

Conclusion

The Khaleej Times check of 6 September 2026 documents a 175% rise at Novotel DWTC, 165% at ibis DWTC, 142% at ibis One Central and an 86% rise in the average rate across 15 hotels near the World Trade Centre on busy September dates. The driver is a calendar that puts the International Property Show, AIM Congress, Dubai Derma, Crypto Expo, Arabian Travel Market and Seamless Middle East in the DWTC halls within four weeks, with GISEC Global at Expo City. After a first half in which occupancy fell 30.3% and the average rate fell to AED 701, hoteliers expect a stronger fourth quarter. For a company planning exhibition travel the practical conclusion is simple: book early, compare locations along the metro line, and budget the Tourism Dirham and VAT on top of the displayed rate.
