How do I legalize commercial papers in Dubai or Abu Dhabi?
Commercial documents such as invoices, agreements and certificates of origin issued in the UAE are attested through the relevant Chamber of Commerce where applicable and then by MOFA. Foreign-issued commercial papers follow a chain in the country of origin first: notarization, that country’s foreign ministry, the UAE embassy there, and finally MOFA attestation inside the UAE.
How much does document attestation cost in the UAE?
The standard MOFA attestation fee is AED 150 per document. Certified translation, courier and any prior steps in the issuing country are charged separately, and fees for some commercial documents can differ by document value, so check the current MOFA schedule for your document type.
How long does legalization take?
A MOFA attestation step inside the UAE is usually completed within 1-2 business days. A full chain for a foreign-issued document, notary, foreign ministry, UAE embassy and MOFA, typically takes 2-4 weeks depending on the country of origin.
Do I need an Arabic translation?
For UAE courts and most government authorities, yes: a legal translation into Arabic by a licensed translator. Banks and free zones often accept English documents. Confirm the language requirement with the receiving authority before ordering translation.
